This past Saturday was Amanda's wedding.  She is my friend and past roommate from college at MSU!  Her wedding was the whole reason that we were heading down to Kentucky.  Both Alyssa and Malachi stood up and did a great job!  Warning:  Lots of Pictures!

It was a good wedding and the kids were so tired from our trip they pretty much slept almost half the way home (6.5 hour trip!)

Creation Museum Part 2

The second level (lower level) of the Creation Museum had many different displays that portrayed different scenes from the bible.

There were many more scenes, displays and descriptions that I didn't get pictures of.  The kids liked this area of the museum much more than the first level.  There was also a dinosaur area that Malachi really enjoyed.  


Overall, the museum was very informative for adults and older children that can read.  Younger children can look at the displays but might not understand what's going on unless an older person explains it.  We also went to a few shows that they had going on and the kids seemed to enjoy those (even though Malachi got scared during one of them).  I definitely would like to go back again but not until the kids are older and can read.  

Creation Museum Part 1

This past weekend was my friend's wedding in Louisville, Kentucky.  We decided to make a long weekend out of the trip and visit the Creation Museum on our way down.  Here is an overview for those of you that have never heard of the Creation Museum.

 The state-of-the-art 70,000 square foot museum brings the pages of the Bible to life, casting its characters and animals in dynamic form and placing them in familiar settings. Adam and Eve live in the Garden of Eden. Children play and dinosaurs roam near Eden’s Rivers. The serpent coils cunningly in the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Majestic murals, great masterpieces brimming with pulsating colors and details, provide a backdrop for many of the settings. (www.creationmuseum.org) 

I have been wanting to go to the museum for a while now but it's pretty pricey, $29.99 for an adult ticket (currently that is for two days, which we didn't know until we got there).  Kids 5 and under are free.  This past fall, I found a Groupon type deal where tickets to the museum were 1/2 off!  Score!  That's more my price and they were good for a year so I knew that we had time to use them.

The museum is split into three areas: outdoor area, lower level and upper level.  

We started in the outdoor area since it was suppose to be a hot one (it was already hot and humid at 10:30 am!!)  The outdoor area consists of botanical gardens and a petting zoo.

We then headed inside.  The exhibit entrance actually starts on the upper level and you slowly work your way down.

The kids were not very interested in the upper level.  Many of the displays described the history of Christianity and didn't have as many pictures for them to look at.
